Joan Moore
1927 – 2020
One of Castle Carrock’s best known former residents, Joan Moore, died in March, aged 92, at the Rosehill Residential Home, on the outskirts of Carlisle. On Wednesday 1st April she was buried in St Peter's churchyard alongside her beloved husband Tom. Because of the current restrictions, only immediate family were allowed to be present. In normal times the church would have been full of people to pay tribute. So if you would like a moment to pause and remember Joan, here’s a video of her speaking in 2009. She was one of a number of villagers featured in a compilation called ‘Reservoir Tales’, to mark the centenary of Castle Carrock Reservoir. Joan was born at Waterworks House in Geltsdale in 1927.
